Man allegedly uses computer tech skills to hide child porn

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A Seminole County man used his job skills as a computer support technician to hide child pornography for nearly a decade, deputies said.

Donald Murray, 49, was arrested on Monday.

Police said Murray admitted to downloading and trading thousands of child porn images over a 10-year period.

The said it happened in a house Murray shared with his mother.

The investigation started over the summer when, according to Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigators, they discovered that someone with an IP address at Murray's residence was downloading and sharing child porn.

FDLE said it told Seminole County deputies, who obtained a search warrant for the house. That search warrant was served on Monday.

During his initial appearance in front of a Seminole County judge, a public defender was appointed to represent Murray. The judge ordered Murray to stay away from children and computers.

WFTV was told that during an interview, Murray admitted to downloading thousands of child porn images, and he told them that he used his skills as a computer technician to cover his tracks.

Investigators said Murray was charged with 10 counts of possession of obscene material/child pornography and one count of distribution of obscene material/child pornography.

He was booked into the Seminole County Jail on an $11,000 bond.
