Man charged with manslaughter of teenager seeks release from jail

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The attorney representing the man charged in connection with a 15-year-old girl’s death is seeking his client’s release from jail.

Ramsys Cruz Abreu’s lawyer, Andrew Clark, filed a motion Friday seeking the release of his client on his own recognizance.

Cruz Abreu has been in jail since April 12, after being arrested for manslaughter in connection to the death of Melanie Medina.

Her body was found on the side of Ziegler Road last month.

Since formal charges have yet to be filed, Cruz Abreu should be released from jail, his lawyer said.

A hearing on the motion is scheduled for Tuesday.
