Marion County woman found dead inside Ocala home

OCALA, Fla. — A Marion County woman was found dead inside her home and investigators believe she may have been dead for as many as five days before she was found Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives are calling her death suspicious.

Employees at a gas station near Wendy Ann Kane's home on Southeast 33rd Court said they saw her about 10 days ago.

“It’s a true ‘Who done it?’ we have,” said Captain James Pogue with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. “She had been deceased at least four or five days inside her residence.”

A neighbor went to check on the 47-year-old and immediately called 911 when he found her dead.

Deputies said Kane’s family lives in New York and she has an ex-husband who has custody of their child, but they did not release many details about what they think happened inside the house.

They’re interviewing Kane’s neighbors to see if they saw anything suspicious.

Investigators said her death may be ruled a homicide in the next few days as they collect evidence.
