Calling all mobile device users: Ocala photography contest open through July

OCALA, Fla. — If you’ve taken a cool photo on your phone, now is your chance to shine.

The Appleton Museum of Art and the College of Central Florida are hosting a photography contest for people to submit up to two photos.

Artists of all ages can participate in the eighth annual Mobile Photography Contest and Exhibition with a creative photo taken on a mobile device or tablet.

There are four categories: accidentally awesome, nature, in motion and portrait. Prizes will be awarded in each category.

Mark Anderson, a photographer and public relations specialist for Marion County, will judge the submissions.

There is no fee to enter the contest and all levels of experience are welcome.

Entries will be accepted through July 31.

Selected photos will be displayed in an exhibition at the Appleton Museum of Art from Aug.15 to Sep.11.
