Ocala man ‘solves’ CASHWORD and claims $1 million prize in Florida Lottery

OCALA, Fla. — A Marion County man is a millionaire after “solving” CASHWORD and winning $1 million in the Florida Lottery scratch-off game.

Santillan Rodriguez claimed the $1 million prize from the $5,000,000 CASHWORD scratch-off game after purchasing his winning ticket from the Quick King Food Store on Southwest Highway 200 in Ocala.

The 48-year-old Ocala man chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $780,000.

The store that sold the winning ticket will receive a $2,000 bonus commission.

The new $20 game, $5,000,000 CASHWORD, launched in May 2020 and features eight top prizes of $5 million and 24 second-tier prizes of $1 million.

Scratch-off games made up 75% of ticket sales and generated more than $1.3 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in the fiscal year 2020-21.
