MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Marion County deputies said they needed to use stop sticks and a PIT maneuver to end a police pursuit of a known sexual predator.
Deputies said Harold Minnis did not stop on June 11 after his vehicle was noticed by law informant with no license plate.

Minnis continued to flee deputies on Highway 441, even after stop sticks punctured the tires of the vehicle, officials said. Marion County deputies eventually conducted a maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Deputies said Minnis exited the vehicle and was placed under arrest.
Minnis is a sexual predator who was convicted of kidnapping and sexual battery in 1987, and had another sexual battery conviction in 2004, deputies said.
Records show Minnis was taken to the Marion County Jail and is facing several charges, including fleeing and eluding law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance without prescription and possession of a forged or altered driver’s license.
