PALM BAY, Fla. — A water main break along Port Malabar Boulevard NE has forced the City of Palm Bay to temporarily shut off water service to some customers as severe flooding and unsafe conditions prevent crews from making repairs.
The City of Palm Bay Utilities Department announced Monday that crews are responding to the break.
However, repairs cannot be completed until flooding subsides and conditions allow workers to safely access the damaged area.
Water service will remain interrupted for affected customers until crews can reach the site and complete the necessary repairs.
Once water service is restored, affected customers will be placed under a Precautionary Boil Water Notice.
As part of the notice, residents should bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing their teeth or washing dishes.
Bottled water can also be used as an alternative.
The precautionary notice will remain in effect until required water quality testing confirms the water is safe and the city officially lifts the notice.
City officials acknowledged the additional hardship the interruption creates amid ongoing flooding and thanked residents for their patience and understanding.
Additional updates will be provided as conditions change.
Residents affected by the interruption should continue following city guidance and boil-water precautions once service is restored.
