ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A group of masked men forced their way into an Orange County home early Thursday morning and shot one of the residents.
Orange County deputies responded to the home in the 5100 block of Polaris Street just after 1 a.m.
Investigators said the incident started with the suspects banging on the front door.
"Heard a loud banging at their front door, the next thing they realized there was some black males inside the residence armed with weapons," Lt. Paul Hopkins with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said the masked men rummaged through most of the bedrooms, but didn't take anything. During the ordeal, one of the men shot a resident.
"There was a 22-year-old black male inside his bedroom when one of the suspects came in and actually shot him," Hopkins said.
The name of the victim has not been released. He's in stable condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. None of the other occupants were injured.
The suspects fled and a police K-9 was unable to track them.
