Melbourne police search for hit-and-run driver who killed 62-year-old man crossing street

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Police in Melbourne are asking for help to find a driver who struck a pedestrian and left them to die.

Officers said they responded to the deadly crash Monday around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Babcock Street and Seminole Avenue, near Fee Avenue Park.

Police said someone was driving a white SUV when they struck 62-year-old Melbourne Beach resident Michael Forrest.

Investigators said the driver was going northbound on Babcock Street when they hit Forrest.

Police said the driver stopped for a moment, before speeding off.

The white SUV was last seen driving westbound onto Seminole Avenue, police said.

Anyone with information about this deadly crash is asked to call the Melbourne Police Department.
