More storms, heavy rain expected Thursday in Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected across Central Florida on Thursday, with slow-moving storms bringing the potential for locally heavy rainfall.

Some areas could pick up another 1 to 3 inches of rain, especially where storms repeatedly move over the same locations.

The slow-moving nature of the storms could also increase the risk for localized flooding.

In addition to heavy rain, thunderstorms will be capable of producing gusty winds and frequent lightning, so residents should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions through the day.

Despite the rain chances, it will remain hot and humid.

High temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80s to lower 90s, while heat index values could climb to around 100 to 104 degrees.
