SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — More than 200 Seminole County students received help preparing for the new school year during the Sheriff’s Office’s annual Shop with the Sheriff event.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation hosted the event for the 19th year, partnering with local organizations to identify students in need of assistance.
Children were selected through programs including Seminole County Public Schools Families in Need, Midway Safe Harbor, local Boys & Girls Clubs, and other community groups.
The day included breakfast, lunch, and a shopping trip to Kohl’s, where students picked out back-to-school clothing and shoes.
Each child was paired with a member of the Sheriff’s Office, giving them an opportunity to spend time with deputies and staff throughout the event.

Sheriff’s officials said the program is about more than school supplies and clothing. They said the event is designed to help build confidence and create positive relationships between local youth and law enforcement.
The Shop with the Sheriff program is funded through donations and support from sponsors, community partners and volunteers. Officials said that support has helped keep the event going for nearly two decades.
