Motorcyclist dies in Volusia County crash

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers are on scene of a deadly motorcycle crash that happened early Wednesday near New Smyrna Beach.

A Volusia County Sheriff’s deputy reported the crash shortly before 4:30 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The deputy, traveling along Pioneer Trail near Airport Road, came across a motorcycle that had left the roadway and ended up in a ditch.

The deceased rider was located nearby, according to FHP.

Troopers did not release any personal information about the motorcyclist.

Traffic homicide investigators were still at the crash scene as of 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
