$50K reward offered for tips leading to arrest in stabbing deaths of Daytona Beach couple

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Daytona Beach police are offering a $50,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest in the case of the stabbing deaths of a couple out on a bike ride.

Police released new photos Wednesday morning of the person of interest they are looking for after Terry and Brenda Aultman were murdered while riding bicycles in Daytona Beach. Officers believe the man is still in the area. See the new photos in the gallery below:

Detectives are following up on leads and told neighbors to upgrade their security cameras with the suspect still out there.

Investigators said early Sunday that the Aultmans were biking home from a night out when they were attacked.

Police said the couple had their throats slashed.

“We will not deny that this one has us alarmed,” said Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry.

Investigators are searching for a man considered a person of interest in the case.

The man is believed to be homeless and could still be in town.

“I’m counting on what I believe is the best police department in the country to do what they always do, which is get to the root of the problem and solve the crime and bring this person to justice — and I believe that they will do that,” the mayor said.

This is an ongoing investigation and active search. Officials said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is analyzing DNA evidence found under Brenda Aultman’s fingernails to try to identify a suspect.

The police chief is expected to talk about the case at a public meeting at Lady of Lourdes Church on Wednesday evening.

Channel 9 will continue to stay in contact with the police department for updates.
