JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Thirteen alleged members and associates of a Jacksonville gang have been indicted on federal charges including racketeering, drug trafficking, murder-for-hire and retaliation against a witness.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, the defendants are accused of belonging to a group known as Slime, which primarily operated in Jacksonville’s Northside and Oceanway neighborhoods.
The indictment identifies Brian Gregory Brightman as the group’s alleged leader. Prosecutors say the organization generated money through drug trafficking and used assaults, shootings and murder to intimidate rivals, protect its territory and collect debts.
Investigators said the organization has operated under several names, including Pearl World, Block Burners for Life, Killers for Telly and Slime World.
The indictment alleges that members distributed marijuana, crack cocaine and methamphetamine from at least 2019 through Aug. 5, 2026. Prosecutors also accuse members of maintaining several drug houses and using firearms to protect their operation.
Brightman and Jacob Goodman are accused of carrying out a murder-for-hire in November 2023. Brightman, Devonne Rivers and Tarvares Watson Jr. are also accused of conspiring to kill two people in April 2024.
Other defendants named in the indictment include Raymond Cash, Devin McFadden, Gary Harris, Blake Baker, Terrance Williams, Andre Drinks, Roderick Leon, Rashawn Rankin and Da’Veon Smith.
Depending on the charges, some defendants could face sentences ranging from 20 years to life in prison. Certain murder-for-hire and firearm charges could carry the death penalty.
An indictment is a formal accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
