DELAND, Fla. — Daytron Etkins was officially transferred to the Volusia County Jail on Monday morning, according to jail records. Etkins was arrested last week in Eustis after police accused him of helping his 17-year-old son evade law enforcement following a double fatal shooting.
His son, Keyan Rundell, is charged with the murder of two teenagers in downtown DeLand two weeks ago and is being held in Volusia County without bond.
DeLand police described the double homicide as a “drug deal gone wrong.”
Authorities allege that Etkins took active steps to assist his son after the shooting occurred. According to DeLand police, Etkins helped Rundell burn evidence and retrieved the gun from the scene.
Lake County Jail records show Etkins was released shortly before 10 a.m. today for transfer to Volusia County. Public records indicate he has not yet been booked into the Volusia County Jail at 12:34 p.m.
