SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Celery Avenue after a driver attempted to pass traffic in a no-passing zone, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said a 2013 Ford Focus was traveling eastbound on Celery Avenue approaching Beardall Avenue when the driver moved into the westbound lane to pass other vehicles.
According to investigators, the Ford entered the path of a 2025 Kawasaki Versys 1100 that was traveling westbound.
The front of the Ford collided with the motorcycle, throwing the rider from the bike. The Ford then rotated and struck the rear left side of a 2007 Toyota Avalon traveling eastbound on Celery Avenue, troopers said.
The motorcycle rider was transported to Lake Monroe Hospital, where the rider was pronounced dead.
The drivers of the Ford and Toyota were not injured and remained at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
