VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office are searching for a driver who fled a traffic stop on Interstate 4 and ran into nearby woods off International Speedway Boulevard.
The pursuit began on eastbound I-4 near mile marker 123 when a trooper attempted to pull over a black 2025 Buick Encore.
The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and exited at mile marker 129 onto International Speedway Boulevard, where the driver abandoned the car and ran into the woodline.
The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation into the pursuit. To aid in the search for the driver, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office deployed K9 and helicopter units to the area.
Trooper Migdalisis Garcia, an assistant public affairs officer for Florida Highway Patrol Troop D, provided preliminary details regarding the suspect.
Authorities described the individual as a Hispanic male between five feet six inches and five feet seven inches tall, with short hair and wearing a black shirt.
The suspect’s identity and exact location remain unknown as law enforcement officers maintain an active scene in the search area.
