ORLANDO, Fla. — Rep. Randolph Bracy held a free food distribution event Friday morning in Orlando, with enough food to feed about 500 local families.
It’s a trend that’s developed around Central Florida, cars lined up before food distribution was even scheduled to start.
“It’s been amazing today, actually overwhelming. They started as early as 7 o’clock being here. We had probably 50 cars at 7 o’clock this morning,” said Derrick McRae, a bishop at Experience Christian Center.

Friday is the 25th straight weekday the Experience Christian Center has hosted a food drive with rotating partners like Farmshare and Four Rivers Smokehouse.
The number of cars is rivaled only by the number of volunteers.
“This kind of turnout, I mean look at the whole community. This isn’t us. This isn’t just the church. This is Orlando. Everybody coming together. I think it’s absolutely beautiful,” said John Rivers with Four Rivers Smokehouse.
Other distribution sites in the area experienced the same.

On Thursday, a YMCA distribution ended before it began. A sign greeted people after the distribution started early and ran out of supply in less than an hour.
“The last time we had an event, I said, ‘This is the most we’ve ever had.’ I think we’ve topped it again. I think the longer people are unemployed and this coronavirus situation lasts, the need grows,” Bracy said.
The volunteers at the site are going to try to keep helping families as long as they have supplies.
