New 192-unit affordable housing community opens in Apopka Southwick Commons, located at 520 Brighton Ave., includes 192 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

APOPKA, Fla. — A new affordable housing community has opened in Apopka and is accepting applications from prospective residents.

Southwick Commons, located at 520 Brighton Ave., includes 192 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

Monthly rents start at approximately:

  • $1,103 for a one-bedroom apartment
  • $1,440 for a two-bedroom apartment
  • $1,647 for a three-bedroom apartment

Apartments include full-size washers and dryers, island kitchens and Energy Star-certified appliances, including dishwashers, ranges and microwaves.

Community amenities include a swimming pool, playground, community garden, business center, activity room, picnic pavilion and outdoor grills.

“Access to stable and dignified housing at an affordable price remains a challenge for too many families across Central Florida,” said Ryan von Weller, chief operating officer of Wendover Housing Partners. “Southwick Commons was designed to help address that need while giving residents more than just a place to live.”

The development opens as the Orlando area faces what housing advocates describe as a severe shortage of affordable rentals. The National Low Income Housing Coalition’s 2026 Gap Report found 13 affordable and available rental homes for every 100 extremely low-income renter households in the Orlando metropolitan area.

Southwick Commons was designed by Slocum Platts Architects and constructed by VCC. Wendover Management will operate the property.
