CENTRAL FLA. — The tropics are active as we start the work week, with one system potentially organizing in the next 48 hours.
The first area is a low-pressure area in the northern Gulf.
The area, known as Invest 97L, has shown signs of organization in the past 24 hours.
Additional organization is possible, and a tropical depression or storm could form between now and Tuesday.
Invest 97L has a 50% chance of development, and interests in southern Louisiana and southeast Texas should monitor 97L.
The second area is the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly, which is impacting Puerto Rico.
The system weakened somewhat on Sunday, but was still producing heavy rain and some wind.
As it moves northwestward, it could organize further mid-to-late week.
It could reorganize in the Florida Straits or in the Gulf, but that is far from certain.
This has a 20% chance of development, and this will continue to be monitored.
