OCOEE, Fla. — The City of Ocoee will mark Hispanic Heritage Month with a community market, public art displays and a proclamation recognizing the city’s Hispanic and Latino community.
The city says Hispanic and Latino residents make up about 28% of Ocoee’s population.
Community market planned Oct. 8
“Ocoee Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month” will be held Thursday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bill Breeze Park, 125 N. Lakeshore Drive.
The event will feature local vendors selling handmade and specialty items, food trucks, crafts and other activities.
A themed scavenger hunt is also planned, with a prize bag going to the first participant to complete it.
Art displays, proclamation also planned
Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, framed posters highlighting Hispanic art will be displayed at Ocoee City Hall.
The city also plans to read a Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation during the Sept. 15 City Commission meeting at 6:15 p.m.
The meeting will air on Ocoee TV on Spectrum Channel 493 and will also be livestreamed online.
Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
