VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 22-year-old motorcyclist from Ormond Beach was killed early Sunday morning after crashing into the back of a stopped semi-truck on Interstate 4 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 3:46 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-4 at Mile Marker 122, east of State Road 44.
State troopers reported that the semi-truck had come to a stop in the inside lane due to a roadblock caused by an earlier traffic crash ahead.
The motorcyclist, traveling in the same lane behind the truck, failed to stop and struck the rear of the trailer.
The crash involved a 2024 Honda motorcycle and a 2025 semi-truck with a trailer.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 22-year-old motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 61-year-old man from Miami, was wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries. He remained at the scene following the crash.
