Officials: Two Volusia County deputies injured in shooting

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla.,None — Officials are investigating a domestic shooting that left two Volusia County deputies injured.

Deputies said 27-year-old Corey Reynolds tried to kill two deputies and his ex-girlfriend. Deputies responded to a domestic incident on Huntington Street in Deltona shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators said Reynolds tried to kill his ex-girlfriend by strangling her. His ex-girlfriend called 911 and Reynolds went back to his home, according to deputies.

Officials said John Braman was the first deputy on scene and waited for back-up before approaching the house. Once Deputy John Brady arrived, officials said they confronted Reynolds. Braman and Brady were attempting to talk with Reynolds when he allegedly opened fire both of them.

One deputy had gunshot wounds in the shoulder and the other deputy was shot in the neck, arm, and back. They were still able to arrest Reynolds without firing back at him, but officials still haven’t said why they didn’t fire back.

The deputies' injuries are non-life threatening, according to officials. WFTV found that Reynolds was arrested for possession of marijuana last year and also in 2003, but both weren’t for violent crimes.
