CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga — A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Orlando was evacuated Saturday after returning to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport shortly after takeoff.
According to Delta, the flight departed on Aug. 8, and the crew, shortly after taking off, declared an emergency after reports of fumes in the flight deck and returned to Atlanta as a precaution.
The flight carried 199 customers and six crew members.
After landing, passengers and crew evacuated the Boeing 757 via emergency slides while the plane was still on the taxiway.
The airline said maintenance teams will inspect and evaluate the plane to determine the cause of the reported fumes.
No injuries were immediately reported.
