ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Some Orange County voters will head to a different polling place for the Nov. 3 general election after HVAC problems forced a location change.
Voters assigned to Precinct 729 will cast their Election Day ballots at Church on the Drive, 1914 Edgewater Drive in Orlando, instead of Central Christian Church, 205 SW Ivanhoe Blvd. The county lists the change as temporary.
The Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office told WFTV the move was prompted by HVAC problems at the original location.
How many voters are affected?
The elections office said 3,092 voters live within Precinct 729. As of Oct. 28, 1,278 had already voted by mail or through early voting.
That left 1,814 precinct voters who had not yet cast a ballot as of that date.
How will voters know where to go?
The elections office said it mailed letters notifying affected voters of the change. It also sent emails, text messages and voice messages to voters who had provided that contact information.
Signs will be posted on Election Day directing voters to the new polling place.
Two other precincts also have new locations
Precinct 729 is one of three Orange County precincts with polling place changes listed for the general election.
The other two are:
- Precinct 109: Voting has moved from Lake Whitney Elementary School to Windermere Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4100 McKinnon Road in Windermere. This is a permanent change.
- Precinct 726: Voting has temporarily moved from Heart of Florida United Way to Church in the Son, 4484 N. John Young Parkway in Orlando.
