MELBOURNE, Fla. — Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital hosted its first Passport to Prevention event Tuesday, giving community members a chance to meet breast health specialists, tour its Breast Imaging Center and schedule future screening appointments.
The free Oct. 27 event was held in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Attendees met physicians and breast imaging team members and learned about local services, including care available through Orlando Health Cancer Institute, according to the hospital.
“Breast cancer care begins long before a diagnosis,” said Dr. Catherine Grey Kasper, a breast radiologist at Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital.
“By helping people better understand their risk, encouraging routine screenings and making these services more accessible, we can empower individuals to take important steps toward protecting their health and well-being,” Kasper said.
The event combined breast health education with a Paris theme, featuring French-inspired refreshments and decorations. Wellness activities included complimentary hand and chair massages, along with a station where guests could create floral bouquets.
Organizers said they plan to build on the passport concept with different destinations at future events while continuing to connect residents with preventive care resources.
