Timeshare rental company employee accused of selling credit card information

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An employee who did data processing at an Orange County timeshare rental company is accused in a criminal operation that includes trafficking in counterfeit credit cards.

Brandon Bizar, CEO of Preferred Guest Resorts, got a call Thursday about Chrystie Hall’s arrest.

He said she worked there several years.

Police said she might have been making money on the side by selling guests' personal information, including Social Security and credit card numbers of people booking vacation reservations through Preferred Guest Resorts.

Police said they found out about the scheme when they caught two other suspects, Xavier Stephens and Bridgett Bennifield, using a fraudulent credit card to rent a car.

Police said Stephens and Bennifield had more than 1,800 reservation documents with them when they were caught, and told investigators that they bought them from Hall.

“We don’t know if she was writing information down or if she somehow exported the data. That’s what we’re working to find out,” said Bizar.

Bizar said his business is looking its records and waiting to see what information police have so they can keep it from happening again.

Meanwhile, some customers on the list have already reported fraudulent activity on their credit cards after making reservations.
