Man fatally shoots wife, son in Orange County, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was arrested Sunday after he fatally shot his wife and son, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday, they responded to the 11600 block of Darlington Drive in reference to a shooting.

Investigators said Smith Rivera shot his wife, Jodie Rivera, 56, and his son, Matthew Rivera, 21, at their home near John Young Parkway.

Jodie Rivera and Matthew Rivera died at the scene, Orange County Fire Rescue said.

Smith Rivera is charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm and one count of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, deputies said.
