$60K in funding for class projects donated to Orlando-area schools

ORLANDO, Fla. — College football bowl season is shifting focus from the field to the classroom.

The College Football Playoff Foundation and Florida Citrus Sports teamed up with Donors Choose to fund $60,000 worth of class projects.

Thirty-eight schools in the Orlando area are receiving the funding.

A surprise announcement took place Wednesday morning for a senior class sponsor at Jones High School.

The money will go to a school pantry.

“Today, it’s about resources, it’s about recognition, it’s about surprising a teacher and driving much-needed resources into this community,” officials said.

School officials said the surprise funding of “Miss G’s Morning Wake Up Pantry” will help students stay energized and motivated between meals throughout the day.
