Apopka day care owner’s husband accused of molesting 11-year-old girl for years

An Apopka man whose wife runs a day care out of their Apopka home is in jail after officials said he molested a child under his watch for years.

Gustavo Ramos-Beltran, 49, was arrested Tuesday evening after prosecutors said an 11-year-old girl told her parents that he had been inappropriately touching her for years.

The victim told investigators that the abuse had been taking place since she was 8 years old.

Investigators said the abuse happened when the girl was dropped off at the home after school. The girl told police the abuse happened almost every time she went to the home.

Deputies said the home is not registered as a licensed day care.

Court records show Ramos-Beltran faces two counts of attempted sexual battery and five counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a victim less than 12 years old.

He is currently being held on $135,000 bail.

Ramos-Beltran does not have any criminal history in Orange County, according to records, but documents do show similar allegations were made by a girl against him in 2018. Records show he was not arrested after the family decided not to prosecute.

Neighbors told Channel 9 they see a lot of children going to the home for day care.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Apopka police at 407-703-1757.
