ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando Health Children’s Arnold Palmer Hospital hosted its Buzz for Bravery carnival on Wednesday to support children fighting cancer and sickle cell disease.
During the event, approximately two dozen participants, including hospital leadership and UCF athletes, shaved their heads to raise awareness.
Participants, such as Orlando Health President Justin Williams, doctors, staff, and UCF athletes, proudly shaved their heads to support Childhood Cancer and Sickle Cell Awareness Month.
“For children with cancer, losing their hair during treatment is often a visible reminder of the difficult journey they are facing,” Williams said.
The organization also presented a donation to the St. Baldrick’s Childhood Cancer Research Foundation to fund ongoing pediatric medical research.
Williams continues, “By choosing to shave our heads today, we hope to honor their bravery and spread awareness about the need for continued investment in pediatric cancer research.”
