Blue Diamond Day: Orange County shelter dedicates day to getting longest resident adopted

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Blue Diamond hasn’t had a place to call home in 100 days.

The 8-year-old dog is the longest resident at Orange County Animal Services. To help her find her forever home, the shelter is designating this Saturday as “Blue Diamond Day.”

On the day, she’ll be outside in a closed off play yard available for attention and interactions with everyone who visits.

“We will show the world what we see every day: that Blue Diamond is an incredible dog,” the shelter said on social media. “And we will get her adopted.”

Shelter officials said like any dog, Blue Diamond has her pros and cons. She’s gentle and friendly with everyone she meets, but is selective about other dogs and doesn’t like a lot of other dogs.

“Blue Diamond is a senior dog, and as such is set in her ways,” the shelter said. “She is intelligent and treat driven, and absolutely loves long walks.”

The shelter said they’re not sure how she’ll do with cats.

“We believe in her, and for some lucky family, Blue Diamond is going to be the perfect addition,” the shelter said.
