Man hospitalized after shooting at Orange County deputies who returned fire, sheriff says

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was shot by Orange County deputies Sunday night, according to Orange County Sheriff John Mina.

Mina said the deputies were responding to a domestic situation at around 6:10 p.m. in the Pine Hills area.

When deputies arrived at the 5400 block of Spring Hill Drive, the man shot at the deputies.

Mina said the man fired several shots at deputies. The deputies returned fire and shot him.

The sheriff said the man was taken to a hospital for treatment and is in critical condition.

No Orange County deputies were injured in the shooting, Mina said.

The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on paid leave as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates, which is standard for all law-enforcement involved shootings.

The name of the man and deputies were not released by the sheriff’s office.
