Celebrating Juneteenth: Scavenger hunt to highlight Orlando’s Black-owned businesses

ORLANDO, Fla. — Black Friday Orlando hosted a Juneteenth scavenger hunt Friday, on the eve of the first time the day will be recognized as a federal holiday.

The event allowed people to explore Black-owned businesses throughout the city.

Hundreds of people signed up for the scavenger hunt, working in teams of four to take on historical challenges while learning the history behind Juneteenth, and supporting local Black-owned businesses.

“It’s a great way to see what Black-owned businesses are in the community, as well as learn some history about Orlando,” one participant said.

The scavenger hunt winner will be able to choose which business will receive money from the Black Friday Orlando grant.
