Disney gives glimpse into ‘historic’ EPCOT transformation

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Walt Disney World unveiled a sneak peek at the “historic” transformation underway at EPCOT during the D23 Fantastic Worlds Celebration last week.

The event showcased multiple rides and attractions heading to the park. EPCOT will be transformed into four lands: World Discovery, World Celebration, World Nature and the existing World Showcase.

Some of the highlights from EPCOT’s transformation includes:

Reimagined entrance

The new entrance will set “the tone for the entire transformation with its gorgeous new color palette and an open, inviting layout,” Disney said.

Gleaming new pylons were installed earlier this year, and work continues on the new fountain at the basin of Spaceship Earth.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

The “awesome and out-of-this-world” coaster will be installed in the area known as World Discovery.

The new nighttime spectacular planned for World Showcase Lagoon will be one of the largest shows ever created for a Disney park, and will also provide “a new energy to the park during the daytime, too, with fountains out on the lagoon,” Disney said.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Set to open next year in the expanded France pavilion, Imagineers gave a sneak peek at the family ride’s new marquee that was recently installed and also discussed how it will play into the “whimsical architecture” of the newly expanded area.
