Evans High School to hold moment of silence for student fatally shot in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police are looking for answers in the shooting death of a 16-year-old Evans High School student.

According to police, Tavyiah King was shot and killed early Sunday.

Police responded to reports of a shooting just before 1 a.m. at the Wawa on John Young Parkway near Silver Star Road.

Responding officers found the victim a short distance away on Silver Star Road. She was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital where she died.

Orlando police are holding a press conference at 1:00 p.m. on Monday to provide updates on this case.

Evans High School, where King was a student, will hold a moment of silence for her at the end of the school day.

Grief counselors are also being made available in person and virtually for students and staff.
