Help wanted: Central Florida businesses struggle to fill open jobs

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Central Florida businesses are trying everything to get new employees in the door: incentives, bonuses and even hiring on the spot at a local job fair.

One of the biggest hiring events of the year was held Wednesday at Barnett Park, but it wasn’t the same.

About 150 vendors came for the event, but only about 500 people showed up. Usually officials said they see four times that many job seekers attend.
