ORLANDO, Fla. — A man was killed Thursday morning after he was struck by a car in downtown Orlando, police said.
At about 6:23 a.m., police responded to reports of a crash in the 3100 block of South Orange Avenue, where a suspect vehicle had left the scene.

Police said they found a man in his 50s who was walking when he was struck by a car. The man later died at a hospital.
The hit-and-run crash forced police to shut down Orange Avenue between Southgate Commerce Boulevard and Pineloch Avenue.

The southbound lanes of Orange Avenue at Michigan Street were also closed.
