Deputies fatally shoot man who threatened workers with knife at Orlando La-Z-Boy

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies fatally shot a knife-wielding 23-year-old man who threatened employees at an Orange County La-Z-Boy furniture store Sunday evening.

The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Sunday at the store on East Colonial Drive near Rouse Road

Deputies initially responded to the area for reports of a traffic crash.

Erik Robinson had been struck by two vehicles before he went into the store, witnesses said.

Officials said Robinson then threatened employees with the knife before being confronted by deputies.

Orange County Sgt. Scot Rebello and Orange County Deputy First Class Tina Woods shot Robinson when he moved toward them with the knife, officials said.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

Rebello has been employed by the agency since 1995, and Woods has been employed by the agency since 2008.

Both have been placed on paid administrative leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates the shooting.
