Man found shot, killed inside Orange County home, deputies say

Orange County officials are investigating after they said a man was found shot to death inside a residence near Apopka late Wednesday evening.

Officials were initially dispatched out to the 500 block of Ella J Gilmore Street just before 10:40 p.m. on a call of a man down.

Upon arrival, officials found Altonio Dunston, 40, dead inside the residence from a gunshot wound, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The mother of Dunston’s children said Dunston’s nephew found him in the kitchen barely breathing.

“They loved their daddy. We don’t know who did it,” she said. “He may not have been the best man, but he was a great father."

Deputies have not revealed if they are searching for a suspect or person of interest in connection with the shooting.
