Orange County medical examiner releases statement on Bob Saget’s cause of death

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Orange County medical examiner released a statement on Thursday, ruling comedian Bob Saget’s death in an Orlando hotel last month as accidental.

Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany said in a statement that an autopsy revealed that Saget died of blunt force trauma.

“In consideration of the circumstances surrounding the death and after examination of the body, toxicology analysis, histology, and a respiratory pathogen panel, it is my opinion that the death of Mr. Saget, was the result of blunt head trauma,” Stephany wrote.

Saget, 65, was found unresponsive on Jan. 9 in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Stephany said Saget’s injuries were most likely incurred from an “unwitnessed fall.” He said a toxicology analysis did not show any illicit drugs or toxins in Saget’s system.
