Orange County teacher supply store restocked after community drive

A free teacher supply store in Orange County was restocked on Thursday following a community supply drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Thursday, a free teacher-supply store in Orange County was replenished following a community-wide supply drive.

The program is dedicated to providing classroom materials to nearly 200 public school teachers, supporting their important work and making a positive difference in students’ learning experiences.

A Gift for Teaching reported that the drive provided a third of the supplies needed for the year. The nonprofit notes over 50% of students arrive on the first day without supplies.

Local businesses and community members generously contributed to the restock as a heartfelt way of giving back to our school system. The donated items will be shared through the free store to support educators in getting their classrooms ready.

Officials with A Gift for Teaching said the drive helped the organization acquire much of its inventory. They explained donations aim to ease financial strain on educators who often pay for materials themselves.

“More than 50% of students arrive on the first day school without the supplies that they need and teachers tell us and they’re spending their own money,” a representative for A Gift for Teaching said.

“We want to make sure we can help alleviate some of that burden and make sure our students are set up for success.”
