Pine Hills neighbors come together to refresh community garden

The Community Garden Volunteer Day was a joint project between Orange County and the nonprofit Ideas For Us

ORLANDO, Fla. — Pine Hills residents spent part of Saturday planting trees and tending garden beds during a volunteer effort aimed at growing more than fresh produce.

The Community Garden Volunteer Day brought neighbors together at the Pine Hills Community Action Center, 6408 Jennings Road, to refresh a shared space that has served the neighborhood for more than two years.

The event, a collaboration between Orange County and local nonprofit Ideas For Us, focused on planting new trees, refreshing raised beds, expanding pollinator habitats and improving soil health.

The work also gave residents a chance to connect while caring for a garden that provides fresh produce and serves as a gathering place.

Located in front of the community center, the Pine Hills Community Garden is part of the center’s broader efforts to support community healing and strengthen neighborhood connections.

Other initiatives include youth mentorship programs and life skills training.
