ORLANDO, Fla. — UCF police are warning students after seven electric scooters were stolen from the main campus in the past two weeks.
All of the scooters were left unsecured and were not parked at designated racks, police said.
Five scooters were stolen near Towers and Knights Plaza. The other two were taken near the John C. Hitt Library and the Lynx bus stop by Garage A.
UCF police are investigating the thefts and said officers patrol UCF campuses and affiliated properties around the clock.
Police urged students to lock bikes and scooters to designated racks with high-quality locks, such as U-locks.
“Thieves often look for easy opportunities, and unattended or unsecured bikes and scooters are more likely to be targeted,” the department said.
Students can also register bicycles and scooters for free through Parking and Transportation Services or UCFPD’s online property-registration system. Registration can help police return recovered property to its owner.
