Sit, stay, ballet: Orlando Ballet auditioning pups for role in ‘The Great Gatsby’

ORLANDO, Fla. — Local dogs are competing for best in show to earn a role in an upcoming Orlando Ballet performance.

The organization turned to social media for an open casting call to fill the role of Fido in “The Great Gatsby.”

The requirements to fills the “ruff” role were for the dog to weigh no more than 10 pounds, be well-behaved, comfortable with noise and lights, comfortable being carried by others, and be current on all vaccines.

“In-puppy” auditions for the finalists are scheduled for Friday morning.

Ballet officials said the family of the winning pooch will receive free tickets to the performance.
