ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A small plane crashed near Alafaya Trail and State Road 408 Monday evening, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened just after 8:30 p.m. Two people on the plane managed to get out of it themselves and walk into the nearby Centra Care, deputies said. They were transported to the hospital so they could be checked out.

FAA officials said a single-engine Piper PA-28 landed in a pond afrter the pilot reported engine trouble while inbound to Executive Airport in Orlando.
The FAA will release the aircraft tail number after investigators verify it at the site.
