Task force looks at ways to change work culture within Orlando Fire Department

A task force has been working to find a way to change the culture within Orlando Fire Department after multiple reports of sexual harassment that go back a year.

Much of the task force’s work has focused on equality in the department, and that means through policies and procedures.

In the last three years, the department has had nine formal complaints and more than 100 informal complaints.

About a year ago, Orlando’s fire chief resigned after he was accused of sexual harassment. Then, a half dozen women came forward with claims of discrimination and retaliation. The city vowed to do better by hiring more females and making it a place they want to work.
