The Wheel at ICON Park remains closed Sunday after 62 people evacuated on NYE

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County Fire Rescue spent New Years Eve rescuing riders that were stuck on the wheel, hundreds of feet in the air.


Firefighters used cranes to reach the people trapped inside 20 different pods.

Some witnessed and captured video of sparks flying from one of the pods.

All 62 people who were stuck were safely rescued according to the fire department.

Officials of Icon Park said that this was all caused by a power outage.

The cause of the power outage remains under investigation.

The ride will remain closed for now as crews complete maintenance.
