Wrong-way driver causes deadly crash on I-4, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly early morning crash in Orange County.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on the westbound lanes of Interstate 4.

Troopers said a Jeep Renegade was traveling the wrong way in the westbound lane of I-4.

According to the FHP’s news release, the Jeep, traveling eastbound, hit a Volkswagen, traveling westbound, head-on.

The collision caused the Jeep and Volkswagen to collide with a Chevrolet Camaro also traveling westbound.

The 27-year-old driver of the Volkswagen was transported to the hospital and later died from her injuries.

The Camaro driver did not sustain any injuries and stayed on scene.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

The third driver did not sustain any injuries during the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.
