Orlando area at season peak for allergy sufferers

ORLANDO, Fla. — Entering the weekend, the allergy forecast in Central Florida projects pollen levels to be high, according to pollen.com.
 
Orlando's Thursday score was a 10.7 on the allergy index, which ranges from a score of 0 to 12, with a high rating falling between 9.7 and 12 on the scale, according to the site.
 
Starting on Friday, local scores on pollen.com project to be 10.8, 9.4, 9.6 and 9.4, respectively. The site said Thursday's worst city for allergy sufferers was Laredo, Texas, with a score of 11.7.
 
The allergy outlook for Orlando shows the area is at a seasonal peak, with most days featuring high pollen levels on the allergy index. The site said the current top allergens in Orlando are oak, bayberry and grasses.  
 
Those with pollen allergies are familiar with itchy, watery eyes, runny nose, itchy throat, hives and other symptoms. The allergy forecast can help give sufferers an advanced notice when pollen levels will be high.
 
Pollen.com offers national forecasts and allow users to sign up for a two-day alert email. Daily pollen reports allow sufferers to decide if they need to increase their medication before going outdoors.
